Mork + Uburen + Ormskrik - live report

Published on September 23rd, 2016

Last Friday 17th (17.09) Mork performed one of his tour dates in Tribute, Sandnes.

For those not familiar with the band, Mork was founded by Thomas Eriksen back in 2004. The band's name comes from norwegian mørk, meaning "dark". Mork play old-school black metal and they have resealed in 2016 their second full length "Den vandrende skygge". A split with Acient Obscurity and Visuri was also released this year...

But coming back to the gig... 2 local bands supported and opened for Mork.

Ormskrik, black metal from Stavanger opened the scenario at around 20ish... it is a new local band from Stavanger. Regardless it is a new band and the members are young, I will say they know what they are doing. Described themselves as "melodic black metal", the band offers really heavy passages, and fast black metal... great growling in the voice of the vocalist and good performance from the guys... As far as I am concerned they are working hard to put their own material out, and it is a good band to check out - specially if you are into black metal with fast - technical and tempo changing in the music, shouting you from melo passages to high speed double beat!

Uburen came after. Also a local band from the region. Viking norse routes are the found of their black metal proposal. The band comes to stage in a pagan style - with that meaning a close feeling to norwegian roots is felt in the way they set-up in the scene. They have a full length back from 2014 "Withered Roots". The inspiration into old norse culture is felt in the music, pagan melodies as in old Enslaved, Thurs, Amon Amarth are present in their music. A performance, that for those into viking/pagan black metal; will take them back in time!

Mork closed the night, with great 60ish minutes performance. Thomas, band's lead; knows how to bring it up the best of Mork and their raw - old school black metal. His vocals and performance are to be distinguished. The old-school black metal - sometimes trashy / speedy and even punkish passages made everyone to headbang.

Corpse paint and spikes, rage and rawness what a great performance, indeed it was!...

Thomas good vibes were spread in the room, not only the concert - but before and after...  himself greeting and standing at the merchandise table, exchanging words with the publikum - an attitude to highlight!

An good black metal evening brought by Sandnes Rockeklubb...
